CALIFORNIA RESTORATION TOPICS
We here at California Gold Restoration Council wish to help restore all aspects of life to their most healthy and vibrant Nature. The areas of focus for Restoration can broadly be divided into the following topics.
Our focus, of course, is California; however, many of these topics are interconnected across state and county lines.
As we grow in numbers, we will further subdivide the topics and also begin to add specific projects we are working on; in this way, individuals who are interested in similar topics can join together to find solutions to our more pressing Restoration areas.
We would love to hear from you. Reach out to us and let us know what Restoration Topics you are most interested in or if you have any specific restoration ideas or projects you are already working on or you would like to initiate and implement.
Health And Wellbeing
We all have many responsibilities in life but we need to incorporate activities that keep our body and mind functioning optimally. Think of health restoration as the care and maintenance you provide your body, mind, and spirit to reduce wear and tear and reverse the effects of stress to your body over time. Healthy activities include positive thinking, relaxation, a healthy diet, regular exercise, good sleep and social support which can all promote your health and wellbeing.
Physical health goes beyond being free from illness or injury. Maintaining our mental and spiritual state of wellbeing is important in order to sustain a vibrant physical and emotional state of health.
Restorative Agriculture
Restorative Agriculture, by our definition, would include supporting California’s farmers and ranchers, both large and small, as well as personal gardeners, to utilize restorative practices in their production of food. This includes taking a holistic and regenerative approach by mimicking nature in water systems, biodiversity, soil management, reforestation, healthy grazing, rewilding and more. With these changes we can make progress in restoring the earth and maintaining a balance needed for successful food production in the future.
We encourage the practice of Permaculture wherever possible. Bill Mollison (co-founder of permaculture in 1978 with David Holmgren) describes permaculture as the “conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems and the harmonious integration of landscape and people.”
We support purchasing foods from your locally owned organic farmers or grown by ethical organic companies. Oftentimes individual farmers sell their products at a local Farmer’s Market or provide a farm to table service.
Energy
We look forward to seeing a fundamental shift in energy sources available. Innovative and clean sources of new energy is fundamental to the restoration of earth, our environment and the wellbeing of ALL living on earth.
Earth, Water, Air
Protecting these vital resources to ensure the health of all individuals is essential to the survival and wellbeing of all living on earth.
Education
Our vision for education is that everyone has access to comprehensive programs with experiences that expands and explores learning in various forms. Individuals of all ages should have the opportunity to enhance their education with vocational and technical training as well as exploring learning that improves our understanding of each other, our world and beyond. Students deserve an educational environment that is enriching and augments the individual’s learning abilities and skills.
Children and Family
Our vision for Children and Family wellbeing is one of safety and stability for all family members. We envision an environment that explores ways to avoid abuse of children and adults. Having a healthy, happy and safe family unit is important. Displaying behaviors that create a loving and trusting relationship with family members is vital to the family as a whole.
Honoring Indigenous Cultures and our Elders
We look to the wisdom of our elders and indigenous cultures in California and beyond, to help guide us on a successful path of restoration. The land that we now call California, has been thoughtfully cared for millennia, by those who lived on it as caretakers, recognizing that it is a gift that provides what we need to survive and thrive. Our elders have witnessed many of the destructive changes that have taken place. Their counsel is a vital part of restoration and looking for ways to honor and care for them is a priority.
